Ushering in a New Era of Marketing
My first task at Facebook was launching mobile advertising — and convincing the global marketing community that advertising on mobile and social actually worked.
From there, my world expanded to bringing new apps into the Facebook family (Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger) to launching new products (mobile video, business messaging) to positioning Facebook as a thought leader (Facebook IQ insights program) and convincing businesses — from SMBs to global brands — they they could build their brand on Facebook apps.
Following are a few sizzle reels, representing the breadth of my team’s work in 2017 and 2018. Our internal agency was referred to as “The Guild.”
It’s a Great Day to Video
It’s hard to believe a time when advertisers needed convincing to run mobile video advertising. There was a lot of hesitancy around the size of a mobile screen and whether you could tell a story in :06 seconds and in a vertical format. Gone where the days of big bold TV spots.
So we figured the best way to demonstrate what was possible with Mobile Video was to build the best possible ads on mobile video. We took our top verticals — beauty, CPG, automotive, and more — and build ads that truly took advantage of the format to shatter’s marketers’ perspective of the limitations of mobile for video ads.
